The ODBC Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes and will distribute grants only to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Grants will be based on specific guidelines established by the Foundation and must specifically relate to:
Grant award cannot be used to cover administrative expenses.
- Promoting boating and the boating community, with a focus on local youth rowing programs;
- Maritime related charitable and educational organizations in the Alexandria, VA area with a nexus to the Potomac River;
- Organizations that promote the history, culture or environment of the City of Alexandria or Commonwealth of Virginia; or
- Support for other charitable, community, cultural, and educational activities undertaken by the ODBC.
Through ongoing fundraising, special events and annual appeals, the ODBC Foundation will accept pass-through charitable contributions in our name for nonprofit organizations, programs and educational activities that foster the mission of the ODBC and ODBC Foundation.
The OBDC Foundation has the sole authority and discretion to make grants from the fund.
